How to Use the Visual Fraction Builder
To begin building your fraction, first choose how many total slices you want your shape broken into by clicking a number in the Denominator control panel. Next, simply click directly on any of the individual slices inside the bar canvas to shade them in maroon. As you add or remove color, watch the Abstract Notation display at the bottom instantly update, revealing exactly how your shaded parts stack up against the total number of parts.

Start by selecting your mathematical precision at the top—choose Tenths (0.1) for a single row of ten segments, or Hundredths (0.01) to unlock a detailed base-10 matrix. To color the grid, click on any block, and the tool will automatically fill everything cumulatively up to that exact point. Look down at the Abstract Place Value Map to see how your visual blocks translate into precise numerical columns, watching the digits shift dynamically across the Ones, Tenths, and Hundredths places.

The 100-block matrix will shade perfectly to match your selected value, while the mathematical display at the bottom reveals the ultimate connection: showing your percentage side-by-side with its identical fraction out of 100.
